How does it work?
The SafeTRIP platform allows ITS applications and services in the vehicle to interact with service centres without specific knowledge of the internal workings of the platform. This is possible thanks to the enabling services which are part of the middleware. For instance, the application does not need to be aware of the presence or use of a satellite link or UMTS network to send application data to the service centre. The middleware transparently determines the best physical communication link to use automatically for the reliable delivery of the data.

How to develop a SafeTRIP Service?
Before you can embark on developing a service capable of running on the SafeTRIP platform, you will need a basic understanding of the various key components of the platform. The following chapters will introduce the Communication Infrastructure, the Middleware and the On-Board Unit (OBU).
Case Studies chapter presents three case studies that illustrate the development of typical services using the platform. And finally Business Models for SafeTRIP Platform chapter presents the possible Business cases application to SafeTRIP services.
