Call Filtering

According to internal statistics obtained from emergency services, around 60% of emergency calls in the EU do not require an emergency response. Indeed, the exact figures are different across the member states. There are many reasons for this high number of non-emergency calls that is well researched and documented.

Emergency services require calls to be filtered to avoid call handling overhead as it typically requires a voice call to be established with the vehicle occupants. This filtering is done by an operator working either for a third party (such as an insurance company, road operator or a telematics solution provider) or for a division of the emergency service responsible for call handling.
